The multimedia map on the website starosajmiste.info offers a current view on the history and the present of "Staro Sajmište", the old fairground of Belgrade where the German Gestapo established a concentration camp in the former fair pavilions after the occupation of Yugoslavia in 1941. The website is a result of many interviews with people who are linked to this place and its history in various ways. It was made after a group of young researchers from Serbia and Germany visited Staro Sajmište in summer 2010.

Almost seventy years after its establishment, the former Nazi concentration camp of Staro Sajmište in the Serbian capital of Belgrade still waits to be made visible as a place of terror in an adequate form. In a joint project, students from Germany and Serbia will explore the place of Staro Sajmište and follow up on different Paths of Remembrance by interviewing Roma survivors. Their recollections are to be connected with other witness reports and the perceptions of current inhabitants as well as representatives of initiatives calling for a memorial site to be built. The aim is to map out the memory landscape and to bring memory, present situation and future expectations together and to thereby make the outstanding memorial importance of the place visible.

Für das Projekt "Hotel Prishtina" haben wir Interviews mit in Deutschland lebenden Kosovaren geführt. Wie sehen sie, die im Kosovo „Schatzis“ genannt werden, ihre "Heimat"? In Videoportraits kommen Menschen aus verschiedenen Generationen und sozialen Schichten zu Wort.

Wir waren Mitorganisator einer Konferenz über Neue Soziale Bewegungen in Jugoslawien, die vom 12. Bis 14. Juni in Novi Sad (Serbien) stattfand. Themen waren neben einem Panel zu „1968“ Diskussionen über die kulturelle Avantgarde der 70er Jahre, Jugendkulturen wie Punk und New Wave, Feminismus, Arbeiterstreiks, Anti-Kriegsproteste und die Protestbewegungen der Neunziger Jahre. They come from Frankfurt, Bitburg, Velbert, Lippstadt, Wuppertal, or Kassel. They were born and raise in these cities, went to school there for years. Until, unexpectedly, police officers knocked at their door one night: Deportation! 14 deported youngsters, Roma and Albanians, went on a tour of exploration in the summer of 2007, using single-use cameras. Schon zu Titos Zeiten suchten viele Jugoslawen ihr Glück im Ausland. Das landwirtschaftlich geprägte Ostserbien war von der ökonomisch motivierten Emigration besonders betroffen. Während die ersten "Gastarbajteri" stets ans Zurückkommen dachten, hat die zweite und dritte Generation heute andere Pläne. Dennoch sind sie alle Jahre wieder hier. Im August herrscht traditionell Hochsaison, wenn Tausende aus Österreich, Deutschland oder Italien anreisen. Das Projekt "GAST:ARBAJTERSKI R:ADIO" war in der Region Pozarevac im Sommer 2008 unterwegs und hat sich auf akustische Spurensuche begeben: in pompösen Villen der Gastarbeiter, den Büros von Organisationen und Ämtern, in den Slums von Kosovo-Flüchtlingen und den Straßen von Pozarevac.

Für n-ost (Netzwerk für Osteuropa-Berichterstattung) haben wir in Sofia die Medienkonferenz "Reformotor EU? Bulgarien nach dem Beitritt" organisiert. 80 deutschsprachige Journalisten aus 14 europäischen Ländern hatten vom 3.-7. Oktober 2006 die Gelegenheit, das neue EU-Land Bulgarien kennenzulernen, zu diskutieren, eigene Themen zu recherchieren, sich zu vernetzen, fortzubilden und gemeinsame Projekte zu planen.
